Folks, I am a mil-surp fan but I really need some help in understanding what I have on hand.....Basically I have a Soviet badge/medal "kit" in a plastic box and was wondering if anyone would have a clue if it's worth anything or if it's just a cool thing to have. I know it's got stuff in it referring to the 27th convention of the Soviet Convention and medals from various states that were in the war but just wondering if it's got any monetary value.
I got it while in Schoningen, Germany in 1986? .. Traded an NRA cap for it..Definitely a great trade but seeing if anyone has a clue.
And didn't want to post a pic until I was "ok'd" to do so by someone here with rank due to it being my 1st post........
So there ya go.....Can I post a pic or 4 ??? ha ha

Howdy, I was born in Texas but usually keep that quiet. :). Post your pictures if you want, but keep in mind, we are not an appraisers' website. Although some here would probably like to see what you've collected.

    Welcome to the forum! :)

While it is true that you won't find a value here, there are some pretty knowledgeable folk who should be able to provide you with some information on the items you have. That will make your search for a value a bit easier.

The pins you possess are IMO quite unique (they better be, I own them :D). They were made during the Soviet Union's existence and are the names of cities which were awarded the title "hero city of the Soviet Union".

The 13 cities are Leningrad, Moscow, Tula, Stalingrad, Sevastopol, Minsk, Brest Fortress, Murmansk, Kerch, Kiev, Odessa, Smolensk and Novorossisk...

Not sure of their worth, but they hold a sentimental value to me (if you sell them, expect a knock at your door around 3am).

    Cheers

From the looks of them, it seems you are missing two (only count 11)? Murmansk and Smolensk?

I do not believe them to be of much money but it is an excellent collection to have if you are a WW2 dork like the rest of us. I would suspect the pins were made after 1960 as Stalingrad has been changed to Volgograd (4th pin from the left).

If you have all 13 pins then you are in the minority of Americans that have them here. Unfortunately the rest are less significant (though I do like the 20 cent russian piece you have :D).

    Welcome aboard.

Sloniksp, I just wanted to post a few more to show the case and stuff...Again, I was like 22 when I traded it for an NRA cap but was still happier than heck then.....Hope it appeals to ya some as well as anyone interested...Kinda blends in with my 3 Mosin Nagants ya know...ha ha.. So basically there's no real "monetary" value on this kit ?? Just kind of an heirloom or whatever ???

And from what I can tell Sloniksp, this kit is "complete" in it's own way... I mean there are no more slots or holes for any more medals and no more room so I'm guessing this is a complete kit for whatever it's supposed to be.....Now I guess I wish I had them other 2.
And what's really cool ( in a weird way ) is how the Germans were in Schoningen in the 1980's....Can't go in depth but they weren't as happy as people might suspect. Still seemed to be a lot of supporters of other parties still around. Cool but really odd. Still had a blast and loved the time I spent there.
