    Hi,

Recently my Father and I have been cleaning out our garage. We had a big trash can full of crap, so we decided to go through it all and separate it for recycling, and my dad found this at the bottom of the trash.

And here's a photo I took that'll help interpret the size. The total length of the casing is just a few eighth's of an inch shy of 4".

One more thing, on the back of the casing, the numbers four and five are engraved. I have whipped up a quick drawing in 'paint', to show you. since I can never get good lighting to take a remotely good picture of it.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

It looks like a .50 caliber. I have inert one sitting her on my desk that could be its twin.

Awesome! Thanks, Slip. Under more observation, me and my father noticed the the primer is not dented/damaged, likely meaning it has never been fired. Although, I do see a small dent near the edge of the back, would this mean the bullet would've been misfired?

Yeah slip, that was my first guess...then it didn't seem quite big enough or wide enough...too big for .303/7.62...so it must be a 50cal...maybe its my eyes...

Looking at your diagram again, are you sure that the diameter is 7/8" and not 3/4"?

Measure the neck of the cartridge i.e. the end where the bullet would go it should be really close to 1/2" which would make it a .50 Cal casing.
