This is a recent project I just finished. The kit is a 1/35 scale Tamiya Jagdpanther (Late Production). It does not sport a regulation paint scheme -- its a long story, but basically I just screwed it up! Besides that, I am happy with how it turned out. And one attempt to make it appear to be 'in the field' circa 1945:
Thanks. I usually just give a 'factory' paint job to my armor models (in other words, no dirt or weathering), but I decided to give it a try on this one. I have a whole bunch of other tanks to paint when I have time.
Thanks Kai. I have a few other tank models sitting around here -- I'll try to get them photos of them posted sometime.
Very nice model - I wouldn't get too hung up over the colouring. Just say that at that late stage of the war at field depots they used whatever paint came to hand ( and you probably won't be far from the truth.... )
Great work I can´t do weather effects either so my models look like brand new ones, dunno how to make that with good results but you managed to do it Hope to see more from you
This is a nicely finished model of the Tamiya Jagpanther kit. (I built one myself a couple of years ago.) As others have mentioned in their posts, I wouldn't worry much about the paint scheme. In the last year of the war, with declining stocks of paint, all sorts of variations on the "official" schemes saw action in the field. On top of that -to the best of my knowledge- tank crews themselves often applied camo schemes in the field...meaning that no two vehicles would be identical. I like what you've done here re: weathering of the vehicle. After many years of creating just-off-the-assembly-line armour models, I've begun to experiment with pigment powders, washes, etc. (I highly recommend some of the new MIG products for weathering armoured fighting vehicles.) Not only have I found that weathering makes for a more interesting and realistic finished vehicle, but it can hide blemishes and limitations in my original build. (Have you ever seen those photos in tabloids of famous women without their makeup? lol)
Thanks again for the nice comments everyone. There will be more photos of different models posted when I get a chance!
