My name is Greg Paterno. I'm 32 years old and currently reside in Greensburg, PA. I've been interested in military history, hardware and people since I was very young. My family always had a large number of history books (I specifically remember the Time Life series on WWII). Aircraft have always been on of my favorite areas. My wife's grandfather was a B-17 tail gunner in 483rd BG 815th and flew many missions. Shortly after he passed I scanned a number of photos he had. Unfortunately I didn't have more opporutnity to talk with him. I'm also an artist and am working to develop laser-cut wooden aircraft artwork - if you have a moment check out www.woodenwarbirds.com and consider backing my Kickstarter project. Nice to meet you Greg, welcome aboard! Great work you have there. I'm into art myself, oil painting to be exact.
Welcome to the forum, Greg. Being from a Big Ten state, I have to ask if you are any relation to the famous PA college football coach.
Welcome to the forums Greg, glad to have ya aboard. The wooden warbirds look amazing. I used to do alot of plastic modelling, and I was recently at a Hobby show here with my living history group and there was a guy that did paper models...Those things looked insane. Keep up the good work Greg, can you build a wooden B-52? I am OBSESSED with the B-52
Howdy Greg, good to have here. Are you related to a certain well known sports figure from that part of the country?
Welcome aboard, Emma! You should start a thread of your own here, so we can get to know you better! Hey, Greg...great site, you're gonna fit in well here!
Greetings, Greg and Emma. Welcome to forum! I'm relatively new here as well. Well, lookie there! I got my first medal! Hmm... it's a Purple Heart... Hey experts here, does that mean I've already been wounded in action? LOL Ah yes... another case of "friendly fire". hahaha
Hello Greg. Like you I missed my chance to talk to any B-17 crews. I do have a very nice widow lady who lives beside me that was married to a B-17 pilot in WWII. Her husband was shoot down in the war and spent a little more than one year in a German POW camp. This lady has many papers, pictures and much information about her husband and the pilots of WWII. She also attends a group meeting of the 8th Air Army people in Savannah Ga each year. If you have any questions I would be glad to pas them on to her. She is a VERY sweet lady and enjoys talking and showing her prizes to me.
