Hi all, Can anyone help with identifying what regiment my grandfather was in from these photos please, which I will now attempt to attach HA HA. I was told by his eldest son that he was in the Royal Artillery, Eighth Army and he came from the Black Country (Stourbridge) Worcestershire, now known as the West Midlands. He served in Africa, Egypt,Palestine and Italy, between 1939/40 and till about 1946/47. Thanks
Hello Jaylou and welcome to WW2F, .....I would advise you to post these pics over on our sister site "WW2talk", as they are more British/Commonwealth based, and so your question may be answered more quickly Best of luck in your research!
The one on the left is a Kaki Battledress. The one in the middle is a tropical uniform (like used in the Colonies or in North Africa) The one on the right is similar and the man is shaling the hand of football team leader. (The sports clothes are also official U.K. army, I have seen similar pics with British soldiers playing vs the French durign the Phoney war and they apparently wear the same kind of clothing.
