I am writing a book about my uncle, a BTG on a B-17, shot down March 1944. French Resistance Fighters evaded him through French Underground to the Brittany coast. He was picked up by Motor Gun Boat April 1944. I need information about the two British SOE's who were evading as well that night. Thank you. Also, my friend needs information about her deceased father who flew with Winans Shaddix on Ol' Dad, shot down April 1944 and taken POW.
D-Square, the Bloody Hundreth. I can't help you much, but do keep us appraised of how it is going and when it is for sale.
You're not giving us much to start with. do you got any names? Maybe the registration number or the name of the B17 of your uncle, names or some background about the SOE men. What do you want to know in detail?
Denise, Welcome to the forums and good luck with your book.....also have you tried contacting the 100th's association? if not give it a look: Official Site of the 100th Bomb Group Foundation Regards Clint
Welcome to the forum, Denise. As RD3 said, more info would make it easier to help. I wish you well on your writing. We have a forum section for writers called Quill and Ink. I'm sure your input and contributions would be very much welcome there as well.
I can get you a copy of the Missing Aircrew Report, if you're interested. Let me know, but I might not be able to get the copy to you until next weekend.
Looking through Le Strange's 'Century Bombers', I wonder if the aircraft in question was 42-39830 lost in a collision with 42-37913 over France on 18th March ? The only survivor of Paul Martin's 42-39830 was BTG Richard Faulkner.............
Yes, 100th BG, Donald Stuke a/c with Paul Martin's a/c (Berlin Playboy) March 18, 1944. Richard Faulkner (BTG) lone survivor traveled through French underground to Paris, then to Brittany coast. Blanche Charlet, SOE and Suzanne Charisse (Wagner/Waghner) a French Resistance fighter along with 2 British agents, one that was resuced by the other. I don't know who the 2 British agents were. Then all were rescued from Beg-An-Fry beach by Motor Gun Boat #502, along with 718 to fight German U boats on April 16/17, 1944 to return to Playmouth, England. I am looking for who the two British agents were. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Thanks, you are so wonderful to response.
