Ripndip, members of the Forum are always willing to help. But an intro in the new member section will go a longway in getting assistance.Give a little back ground and maybe your relationship to the soldier your looking for.We all love a good story here.
    Looking forward to your intro.
    Bob

To my knowledge the only way to find out his unit is to obtain a copy of his discharge papers. You can try to get that from the National Personnel Records Center (archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/get-service-records.html) but be aware that a fire there in 1973 destroyed millions of records and they may not have a copy. The other route would be to see if there is a copy posted at the local courthouse where he was from. Good luck with your search.
