Is nothing sacred in Hollywood? "(EW.com) -- TV's original American horror story is taking another step toward returning to primetime: NBC has ordered a pilot of Bryan Fuller's remake of the classic TV show 'The Munsters.' "The new version of the half-hour sitcom is bring re-imagined by the 'Pushing Daises' creator as an hour-long series exploring how the monster house came about, and will have a darker and less campy feel than the black-and-white original." 'Munsters' remake pilot ordered by NBC - CNN.com
It is to weep. The Munsters are even more sacred to the time than the Addams Family, at least whem that was remade it was a set of movie spoofs that were in the same vein of silly. Don't any of these people have an original thought between them? NBC just lost even more of my "like" for their channel offerings.
I agree, Clint, with your assessment of the Addams' family movies. Raul Julia was a hoot as Gomez. Dave
Nope, Bollockswood doesn't have but maybe a half-dozen creative thinkers in the bunch anymore. Spielberg, Eastwood, and Joss Whedon (of "Firefly" and "Serenity" fame) are about the only ones I think who are that creative. Cameron's "Avatar" was pretty much a sci-fi version of "Dances With Wolves". I watched "The Munsters" as a kid (still can't eat the cheese without thinking about that flaming thing that lived under the staircase), and can't see any "darker and less campy" version will do justice to the original.
You mean "Spot"? That flame throwing dragon lived under the stairs, and in the first few series was found in the kitchen with deCarlo sweeping around its tail.
About the only TV I watch is sports. My wife watches EVERYTHING. She controls the remote, and has learned the joy of On Demand. That said, Hollywood is experiencing a dearth of original thinkers. NBC is low on the list of stations that we watch. The Munsters and The Addams Family were shows I watched in their first iterations. I will not watch the new versions. Even my wife will not watch them.
