    Hi!
    I saw this video on YouTube called Badenweiler Marsch. It showed the Waffen-SS. Rows and rows of soldiers standing at attention while H. Himmler walks by them. The camera slows down in front of this young Waffen-SS soldier. The same soldier is in the YouTube video Waffen-SS. He is shown at reel 0:11. He is in his mid to early twenties. He has black hair and slowly follows Himmler's progress. Who is this soldier and why is he constantly shown? I believe he was serving in the Liebestandart. I have tried to find any information regarding this soldier. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    You might ask over at axishistory.com, they have their Germans pretty well sorted, I think.

    The more the merrier, welcome and I hope you'll character will be identified by someone. I have quite a few books by Heimdal in my library and will try to see if I spot something.

    I do remember "the-son-of" soldiers getting special attention...i'd start there...or young knights cross recipients...

    Hello KTK and thanks for replying. :)

    Yes, that is the video! I've tried for so long to find some information regarding this young Waffen SS soldier and have found absolutely nothing. Another person did e mail believing this young soldier to be Jochem Peiper. I raced off to do some research regarding Jochem Peiper and what I did find had my mind in a turmoil. Some claimed that Peiper was a hero amongst his men. A man of intelligence and military cunning. Others claimed that he was infamous for his ruthlessness and cunning. Wasn't he referred to "Blowtorch Peiper"? I just don't know.

    The Badenweiler Marsch video shows Himmler walking in front of the Leibestandart regiment and the camera slows in front of this young soldier. I believe it is at reel 33-35. Is this young man Jochem Peiper? And why does the camera pick him out specifically?

    Any infomation you come across would be appreciated!

    Oh, I also tried to contact the person who uploaded the video, SS Florian Geyer but no response. Also, I happened to see a WW2 documentary regarding the Wehrmarcht and the Waffen SS which showed this same man. There was commentary from Kurt Sametreiter. Maybe this was the young man in the video??
