Hi all, I joined this forum because am very interested about WWII and specially about the liberation of south-east Netherlands. I saw a thread in one of these forums about old Hickory division when i was doing research on interenet after a certain picture taken about the 13th september 1944. (will post about that later). Old Hickory was the division which liberated the part of netherlands i live in. There are a lot of streetnames and monuments in our city which refer to the liberation. The American War Cemetery of Margraten is close to were i live. I also am a modelbuilder who restarted after a long break with this beautifull hobby. (military, scale 1/72 and 1/35 scales). Hope to read a lot of interesting stories on these forums. C u !
Hi, Ruud. Glad you finally are able to post. You'll find quite a bit about the Old Hickory division on this forum. I look forward to your contributions.
That would be me you are talking about concerning Old Hickory. I am writing a book about a man who was in the 30th Cavalry Recon Troop of the US 30th Infantry Division. What city do you live in, may I ask? My friend spent a lot of time in Heerlen, Kerkrade and Valkenburg. What picture are you refering to made on 13 September?
Ruud. Duude. Welcome. I'm the weird one. Red headed retarded stepchild who gets a severe brow beating anytime I try to express my individuality (send help). tin foil hat yada yada...Have you met Urqh? We have rabid aliens who do probing. ..And never trust Belasar ( he's trying to poison me ). Maybe some pics of said street signs?
Salute And welcome to the forums! My Dad's regiment played a part in the liberation of the Netherlands also Cheers Eh!
I moved your question about the towing vehicle to its own thread. See this thread concerning a question Ruud had about a towed 57mm AT gun. http://www.ww2f.com/weapons-technology-wwii/55098-what-towing-57mm-gun-maastrict.html
Slipdigit, Poppy is casting asspersions about my character and giving new members a bad impression of me. Can I send him to some cold, dreary, back of nowhere place for a time out? Oh wait nevermind, he already lives in Canada, so he might think its a vacation!
You're from Texas and you are more than remotely concerned about what he says? Where's your pride? He's not from Texas, what do you care? ....
