Hello All! It's a pleasure to join this forum. I'm actually more of a lurker by nature, but I like the way this forum works, the knowledge that is represented & am particularly impressed with the respectful nature of the posts. Wish I had some great family ww2 stories to relate right now. Seems like I have a family filled with people needed at the home front - accountants, truckers, farmers,... Nothing wrong with that of course, but as a kid I sure wanted someone who could tell raucous stories around the campfire. A bit of a warning - I'm not much of a computer person. (Hunt, peck, rapid fire burst of profanity, delete, delete,...) Thanks.
Sounds like most of our members, not me of cours....$%^#@ oh crap! Welcome Aboard and enjoy! Actually some of those homefront stories might just be interesting.
Welcome, Big D! Belasar hit the nail on the head. The home front stories can be very interesting. We have a couple threads (not nearly enough!) about experiences of those who served at home. Seems like we should have a forum section for those stories. Hmm. Please make yourself at home and join in the raucous, though friendly, banter of your fellow rogues.
Oh absolutely. I agree, home front stories can be very cool. Let me give an example of a family story I like - but from a different war. I still remember my grandmother delightedly talking about the town members hauling a large hollow, tamarack tree to the center of town. They decorated it, filled it with oil soaked rags & burned the Kaiser in effigy. She witnessed it as a young child, but decades later she was still thrilled by the idea. Thanks all for making me feel welcome. - Big D
Hello, Big D. Welcome to the forum. Home front stories are always welcome. Post away, or hunt, peck, swear away.
Welcome, Big D. You're a recruit like me. We can form our own company. haha (I like playing with words.)
