:D When I saw that pic of the SSKi, I couldn't help thinking of the one and only...!

    That is indeed, cheating :).

Here's one, backed up by straightforward empirical reasoning:

Vespas are Ugly nasty little things:

QED: Any 'FV' (dropping the 'A' there I'm afraid) based on 'em is also Ugly:

    That's logic, that is.

I am shocked by your choice, sir.
Any Wheel-cum-track device is a thing of armoured beauty. The only possible enhancement being a selection of chaps in Pith Helmets or an officer in riding gear accompanied by a small dog.

Though it's earlier form may indeed partially explain some of the Kiwis interest in the Semple. I'll concede that. :shifty:

The Vespa is a รน&*&%%*!!@# I had one for 25 years and they NEVER did correct the basic design flaw of putting the high voltage coil too close to the engine so it melted (must have changed a dozed of them before doing a mod. Also required a very special driving technique as the engine was offset to the right so as to eneable a quick change of the rear weel, that thing had better have NO recoil.
Thanks for the SSKi pic, I was too lazy to scan and posr it :-(, I was also thinking of the Bob Semple but couldn' remember it's name.

This thread is hilarious! I think a poll would be a great idea. Maybe have an "All of the above" option for those who have problems with commitment (I'm not thinking of anyone in particular, of course!)

    Dear Outraged of Leicestershire,

Please contact your local eye doctor at once, increase your perscription and then take a second view of the Schofield. Yes, Pith Helmets would be an improvement. Come to think of it, anything would be an improvement. Its not so much a wheel-cum-track vehicle but a lorry that some Aussies attached the warped and distorted tracks off a Bren Carrier to. This should be a good example of what happens when you and your mates have too many cold ones while you're tasked with designing an armoured vehicle.

    Signed,
    The Instigator of Leicestershire Rage.

Back to the matter in hand.
Now I like Shermans. Damned fine looking machine in my view.
But it is entirely possible that even Mummy Sherman might be a little defensive about the looks of her 'Demolition' offspring, the T31:

And then use it to decorate the place afterwards.
Some planters welded on, a bench across the Glacis, maybe even an awning, or a patio on the engine deck.
    All tastefully planted, naturally.
    Who wouldn't?

You know - over the years I have followed plenty of Vespas as they careered down the road ahead of me rather lopsided - and the reason for it never struck me! :D Eeuw!

While Mr Simms's Quadricycle modification was certainly 'unusual', is it really ugly?
I suspect it actually looks better with the Machine Gun:

SPGs can throw out some possible stylistic failures from time to time.
Is the M52 particularly attractive? I fear not.

I still sort of like it though.
There may be a theme developing here...

There's worse than the M11/39 that came out of the Ansaldo works.

It looks like it is missing a bogie in the rear.

It's a modified Walker Bulldog chassis.
I used to know why they had that rear arrangement, but the mind wanders so.
Maybe something to do with a more stable flatter footprint under such a BFG when it fired, less rocking potential, or even just room for the spade, but I honestly forget. Hopefully someone else will have the gen to hand.

In my books the M5 A1 is dang purdy. A comparative sports car to other clunky beasts then around...It is etched in my memory.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Last call, I'd drive that baby home.
