As an introduction, I'm Carlton Roberts. My father was Hiram Miles Roberts, Company B, 180th Infantry. He was WIA on March 3 at Anzio and I am looking for after action reports from February 14-March 5 1944. I'm making a trip to Anzio this fall and have a number of battle maps from the Army Historical unit book series. I'd like to find my father's (estimated) position or hear from anyone in the area at the time. BTW, he came back to the 180th/45 and made the landings in S. France. Any helping hands out there? Admin Edit: I moved your intro and request for information to its own thread. You'll get more traffic and response. If you want a different thread title, let me or one of the other admins or moderators know. - Slipdigit
Carlton, welcome to the forum! It would have been alright to start your own thread as an introduction. Enjoy your trip to Anzio!
Hi Carlton. Welcome to the forum. It would be helpful if you would start your own thread. That way it's easier to keep track of your journey. Please consider doing this, and keep us informed of your trip to Anzio. Any pictures that you care to share would be welcomed as well.
Welcome Carl, This might interest you and there are maps of the area during the Anzio campaign. Anzio Beachhead: The Major German Offensive (16-20 February)
Thank you for the receiption. Sorry about being so tardy in my response. I'm looking for a source of after action reports for B Company, 180th IR for the dates of February 14-March 15. My father, PFC (rifleman and light machine gun) Hiram Miles (Miley) Roberts was wounded by an arty round on March 3 while on the line. I'm looking forward to visiting Anzio in September and would love to spend some time in the areas he moved in. I've got the WWII 50th Anniversary Commemorative Edition of "Anzio Beachhead," issued by the Center of Military History, printed by the Historical Division, War Department for the American Forces in Action series in 1948. Got all the maps, but want to dig deeper. Any help? BTW, I would be willing to copy maps from the book or look for information and respond to requests should anyone have any. Thanks again for the welcome and the help.
