This is my grandfather during the war. He was in the U.S. Army stationed in the Philippines. When the Japanese invaded he and his fellow soldiers didn't want to surrender so he hid in the jungle and help start a guerilla war. My great grand father is a white American living in the Philippines at the time when the Japanese invaded. He was a US army veteran of the Spanish/ American war. The Japanese were murdering all US veterans. Most of my great grandfathers fellow veterans of the Spanish/ American war were captured and murdered by the Japanese. So my great grand father and my grandfather got together and helped the guerilla war campain. Please post your grandfathers WW2 pics also. (Sorry don't know how to resize the pic its too big so I just post link) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Chaloner/Ramonschildphotos026.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Chaloner/Ramonschildphotos035.jpg Admin Edit: I reduced the photos and added them to the page for you. The reason they would not upload directly is that they were too large.
Great pics of your grandfather. Thanks for sharing them. I found a couple of links for those unfamiliar with the Guerrilla warfare after the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. The first article is a good summary except for getting the date of the Lingayen Gulf invasion wrong (s/b 9 Jan 1945). Chaloner, as I was looking for another document, I came across the following in the CARL (Combined Army Research Library) Digital Library: Guerrilla Resistance Movement - Philippines Vol 1
