over the past few weeks i have been researching about the B-29, i have accumulated the basics such as specifications and variations but i know there is still more out there. i know that the first B-29 prototype the XB-29 was XB-29 41-002, that the first YB-29 was YB-29 41-36954 and that the only ETB-29A had the serial Number 44-62093 and so on. it would realy help if you guys could give me some information that i dont already know. Regards, Gunney
Like Ol' Blood&Gut's, I'm not too sure what you already know - so- This is a good site to start with. Pictures and numerous links. B-29 Superfortress Heavy Bomber | World War II Database
Wikipedia is also a very good place to look (Boeing B-29 Superfortress - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). If you want a "hard-source", there is "B-29 Superfortress" by Curtis LeMay -- the same LeMay that led the strategic bombing of Japan.
Well then you've got a long row to hoe. All the information is out there; you just have to find it, just like any of us would have to do to answer your question. B-29 - Google Search
There is much more important information than the serial numbers of various models -- look up information on the serious development probems, engine problems, service record, etc.
Here is a great site to start you search if you don't already have it, Joe Baugher also lists all his reference sources for you to expand your own search. Goto: Boeing B-29 Superfortress
