I was at the Pima Air Museum (Tucson Arizona) a couple weeks ago. Here's four pics I am sure you will like.

105F in the shade gives an individual some good photo opportunities. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE MOTIVATED AND DONT CARE ABOUT THE HEAT

Great stuff, syscom3! I love a good air museum. I was going to make a trip to the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, OH a few days ago, but I couldn't get the flights to work. Ironic somehow.

    Anyway, great pics--post more!!

Speaking of Arizona, does anyone ever get access to the boneyard at Davis Monthan down there? That's someplace I've always wanted to see.

You can go on a bus tour of Davis Monthan (more technically the AMARC "boneyard" facility) from the Pima museum. It lasts for about 45 mins, if I recall correctly.

Most of the Pima collection is outside -- completely different than Dayton. Both are excellent museums, with about the same number of aircraft on public display.

If you want to see an empty museum, visit in July when the temperature is 120 degrees. I've been there twice (2007 and 2009), and the only building that was full was the space hall (the only one with dim lights on and good AC). The rest was essentially empty. Outside, 90% of the visitors you see will be standing in the shade under the wings of the larger aircraft. There must have been 30 people under the wings of the B-36 when I was there. Its nice because the only people that are interested in close examination are the history buffs, because they're the only ones willing to walk around in the heat.

I went to the DM boneyard tour. Great experience! I will post a few pictures later on.

Speaking of the B36; here is a picture of it. View attachment 17196
