The A6M is a fighter not a bomber, also known as the "Zero."

As for my favorite bomber it is the bad ass Boeing B-29 Superfortress.

I've learned a great deal about the aircraft. I've learned to love it more than any other bomber in the fact that my grandfather flew them. He was assigned to the 393rd Bombardment Squadron, 509th Composite Group under Col. Paul W. Tibbets. While he never went to Tinian in the Marianas. He was assigned to the second flight squadron at Roswell Army Airfield, NM in early 1945. His flight was the flight that came up with the technique of how to drop the atomic device and leave the target area safely.

I vote for the A-20. It must have been fun to skip bomb a ship at sea level.

Opps I though this plane was a bomber. My favorite bomber is the japanese bombers that attacked Pearl Harbour Hawaii at December 7 1941. My favorite is Nakajima B5N.

    It's not a torpedo plane. It's a torpedo bomber.

    Grumman TBM/TBF "Avenger"

    Imperial Japanese Navy:

    Fighter Aircraft:
    Mitsubishi A6M "Reisen/Zero"
    Mitsubishi A5M "Claude"

    Bomber Aircraft:
    Aichi D3A "Val"
    Aichi D3Y "Myojo"
    Yokosuka D4Y "Suisei/Judy"

    Torpedo Aircraft:
    Mitsubishi B5M1 "Mabel"
    Nakajima B5M "Kate"
    Nakajima B6N "Tenzan/Jill"

    Nope,

Many "Kate" carried bombs at Pearl Harbor (800kgAP??????)

The topredo affected range, plus a Cv only carried a small number of Torps so they were kept for major targets.

The Avenger was a Torpedo Bomber, It carried bombs as well!!

The B5M was actually termed a "special attack" aircraft by the Japanese. It was used as both a horizontal bomber and torpedo bomber. The bomb it used at Pearl Harbor was a modified 16" armor piercing shell made into a bomb. Unfortunately for the Japanese these modified shells worked pitifully badly proving to have little armor piercing capacity and poor explosive performance.

    Yep,it was.

The "Kate's" primary purpose was as a torpedo aircraft. It being a bomber was a secondary purpose. The same categorizing goes for the TBM/TBF Grumman Avenger.

I like that L-5 with the bazookas on it.
    Does that count?
Heck in WW 1 they threw grenades out.
I believe most everybody tried to hang bombs on anything, once they figured out they could do it, or somebody else did it to them.
Those Japanese baloon bombers are my favorite. They had unequaled range!
