For a (female) friend of my who has adopted the grave of Anthony L. Lo Carro (cpl) of the 701st Tank Battalion, ASN 32807354, DOW 25 februari 1945 vicinity Ubach, Germany, I'm looking on additional information about the unit as such. My friend has adopted the grave and through a contact in the US, contact with the family was established about two weeks ago. As a surprise I'm giving her a file with all the information I can find on the soldier and unit. I requested the IDPF and have got the After Action Report of februrari on this unit. I'm looking for additonal info on this unit and the fighting at the Siefried line in Februari 1945. Anyone who's got something ?
Welcome to the forum Cas. I found a website with some info regarding the time period you're interested in. This section covers 25 Feb and the surrounding days: Clearing the Path to the Rhine. The preceding section follows the activities of the Roer bridgehead on 23 Feb: Establishing the Roer Bridgehead The 102nd and associated units saw some tough fighting during this period. Hope these links will add to your research.
