    Good Evening Everyone,

I haven't been on for a while. So after about 2 years of research, I finished the shadow box that will display my Grandfather's service in WWII. My plans are to present it to my Father for Christmas. As far as I know he is unaware that I've done any of this, so hopefully it will be a nice surprise.

There are still some unknowns concerning my Grandfather's service, but I believe it to be 99% accurate. Perhaps in the future, when time & money allow I will have opportunity to have additional research performed.
For anyone interested, here is the link to the original post: http://www.ww2f.com/military-servic...h-raising-more-questions-instead-answers.html

I built the entire box, so I'm proud of how it turned out, despite a few mistakes that I notice. (That's the woodworking in me....) I decided to have a door that swings open, rather than just a fixed piece of glass. This will allow anyone to see the backside of the metals and the engraving that NARA had done to them on 2 of the medals.

Ecaps, the display is very nice. I do quite a bit with wood and I'd give you a high grade on the workmanship also.
Thanks for the update and the picture--this will a great Christmas present. And a Merry Christmas to you also,
    Dave

Nice stuff ecaps. I LOVE looking at these shadow boxes. You did a really nice job. I just had one finished that I sent to my uncle for Christmas (a surprise for him like for your father), and I just got off the phone with him. To hear the emotion and thanks in his voice made the year or so it took to put it all together worth it. I'm sure your father is going to love it!
