Not one of my favorite flicks either.....I'm not quite sure just what the producers/writers of this movie were trying to say, other than the old "war is hell" cliche..... Maybe they simply couldn't figure out how to end this movie, as Lee Marvin carries on like a goat for the entire film, and his frankly good mannered Japanese counterpart, after appearing to be the "winner" of the characterization, could not then be captured by US forces as was his probable fate..... Now you know why this film spends much of it's time in the "Two dollars/week" basket at the front counter of your DVD store.....
