The link works great. Thanks for posting HP. Nice production work. Would really like to hear those engine noises naked sometime, ie no music. That flyby was impressive!
Got some info on the plane: P-51D Serial No. 44 - 72739 Con. No. 122-39198 Civ. Reg. N44727 "Man O War" Post War Production I believe, stationed first in 1955 Here's another picture, in flight, with several other birds (it's the one furthest from the camera): 44-72739_01609_unk.jpg Apparently this bird was used in the film "Battle Hymn" in 1957!
Would have been great to go to the air races back in the day...inlines Vs Radials...even powerboat racing used old Merlins...bit too long ago for me... : (
Great video! Unfortunately, the music drowns out the awesome sound of the engine. I'd love to hear it raw.
44-72739 was a Block 25 P-51D manufactured in late '44. Its history prior to 1955 appears undocumented but several a/c with s/n's surrounding this one had WWII histories. 44-72769 was lost 16 Apr 45 with the 4th FG. 44-72772 was lost 21 Apr 45 with 78th FG. 44-72992 was Robin Old's "SCAT VII" with the 479th FG.
Here's the original shots I got, no music, no editing, no nothing. Just pure P-51D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJnLjM3TzEs&feature=youtu.be
