Ahhhh You yanks....waiting to see if we remembered...Happy 4th...Hope it rains... Well what do you expect... Enjoy...
Not a Yank myself, but I married one and we live among them. Will be grilling and setting off fireworks as the tradition requires.
It is. I have to work, so I don't care Maybe it will get me out of outdoor grilling when I get home, and I can stay inside using my George Foreman griller. DaveBj
Happy 4th of July to my American friends and let Urgh be . After all he moans about territories comprising New York, which the Brits stole from the Dutch in the first place. I would have started a Revolution too if I was being forced to drink tea instead of Gin and have to pay for it .......
urgh got his wish, slow rain here all day ! Now how the hell did he get English weather to settle over Alabama ?????
Sorry there mate but it's a beautiful 82 degrees with light winds. I just returned from the annual family&friends 4th of July bash and spend the time listening to tales of the USAAF. We even had a MARINE Pilot who flew the F-8 Crusader in Vietnam sitting at the table. And it's funny Skipper mentioned Gin - the Marine introduced me to Gin&Tonic Life is good. ps: Thank you my friend for remembering us.
It quit raining in north-central Alabama, so I had to grill anyway. My Spousal Unit had one of her friends over, so we all ate until we were comfortably full and chatted. A nice evening. I do hope the rain comes back to spoil all the local back-yard fireworks shows, because 0600 comes around awfully early. D
Actually, it was rum that was the Colonials' adult beverage of choice. To my friends from across the Pond, thank you for the kind wishes. To my American friends, have a wonderful and safe Independence Day. That is, don't blow up any fingers, don't fall in the lake, don't burn down your garage or deck with the BBQ, and let somebody sober drive... PLEASE! This has been a public service announcement... Let the festivities begin (if they haven't already)!!
It has forevermore pea-vined here. No flooding, that is further south, but all the outside festivities were cancelled, including our parades and a lazy day at the lake. The rain would not be such a problem since there is no lightning, but it is also somewhat cool for watersports. It never got above 75o today, if it even made it that high. I know that may not sound cold to some of you, but riding in a boat at that speed while wet from skiing or tubing, well that is a smudge chilly. BTW, 75o is about 20o cooler than it should be this time of year here. It is not raining too much at present so some brave souls are launching heavy artillery, much to the dismay of my dogs. The forecast for the remainder of the week is about the same, except the chance of rain drops to 70-80% instead of 100%. I have friends and relatives at the coast, where it has rained for several days. The area around Panama City and Panama City Beach is experiencing flash floods.
We had great weather. Grilled, swam, ate and generally had a good time with family. Thanks to all the non-Americans for remembering us. To the Americans, hope you all had a good day, and rememebered the reason for our celebration.
