My grandfather passed in 1999 at that time and up until a few years ago I was completely unaware of what he went through in the Marines. These photos and his discharge papers are all I have oh his pertaining to his service. Like some other veterans he never spoke of his experience. Since I have grow up I am now able to fully grasp and appreciate his sacrifice to his country. I have made it my mission to find out everything I can about this part of his life that's completely unknown to me and my family. I will be sure to answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability. Also just want to say I am completely new at this and I don't know if this was the easiest way to do it http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps816c572b.jpg.html?sort=2&o=0 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps90f7ae95.jpg.html?sort=2&o=2 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zpscefe61b8.jpg.html?sort=2&o=4 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zpsde1f9966.jpg.html?sort=2&o=5 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zpsb592a649.jpg.html?sort=2&o=6 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zpscf3cf1b3.jpg.html?sort=2&o=7 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps77c7704a.jpg.html?sort=2&o=8 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zpsce72ba34.jpg.html?sort=2&o=9 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps530f6d60.jpg.html?sort=2&o=10 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps367308a9.jpg.html?sort=2&o=11 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zpsd396dcdb.jpg.html?sort=2&o=159 (This one is one of two with my grandfather in it he's the taller one) http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps3708c32f.jpg.html?sort=2&o=158 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps0246e9a9.jpg.html?sort=2&o=160 http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/media/image_zps78e5745a.jpg.html?sort=2&o=157 There are a total of 162 photos in my library on photobucket please have a look. I feel it would be ridiculous to post them all one by one. http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/USAAF-B-17/library/?sort=2&page=1
That's a great collection of photos. It's also helpful to have the notations on back. Thanks for sharing them.
Amazing photos. The commentary on the back is very helpful. I took a quick look at the gallery ,and I must say I'm impressed. Nice work.
I was blown away when I first discovered them. Although some are confusing to me like the aerial photos and one that says army signal corps. I've noticed the one of the flametrhrowing tank In a couple books I've read. I tried to contact the publishing company's to assertain where they got those photos but I had no luck.

Yes, I initially used the link in your intro thread. However, on Photobucket, the back of the photos weren't always next to the front. I'm not sure if I did something in viewing them that might have changed the order, but it wasn't a big problem. We probably should warn folks that some of the photos are a bit graphic (i.e. post #6), so if they are sensitive to that sort of thing they should not look.
The Army Signal Corps did take photos throughout the War. The ones with their mark may have been purchased or otherwise acquired after the War.
It was confusing to me because it seems out of place there's only one that says that on it and my grandfather was in the Marines not army. But I know they all fought on Okinawa. And I didn't even think about notifying people of there graphic content. And my apologies about the disorganization that was my first time using photobucket.
No need to apologize about anything. There's always a learning curve when using something new. It's hard to say why your grandfather would have an Army Signal Corps photo. Perhaps it reminded him of an incident or someone. Whatever the reason, he chose to keep it with his other photos, so it's likely that it held some significance for him.
