Hello I am looking for a British tv series I saw on the Spanish tv in the 80's. all I remember was some agents training to be parachuted to France. Some of them were women (but I think it wasn't "Wish Me Luck") and I remember some Lyssander pickup scenes. I know it's not much, any ideas? I am now enjoying Colditz.
"Moonstrike" was a 1960's BBC television drama series about SOE's work in occupied Europe. http://www.ranker.com/list/full-list-of-moonstrike-episodes/reference http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/series/2698 I have not found any episodes on YouTube yet.. There are only three episodes left at BBC. The rest were wiped and the film reused. http://www.britmovie.co.uk/forums/british-television/81272-moonstrike.html Check out the list of possible TV Series etc at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Operations_Executive#In_popular_culture
And it isn't Moonstrike either. It was in color, not b/w,and I've found the music theme from Moonstrike in YouTube. I remember some of the music of that old series and it's really different
Bergante....you're 100% sure it wasn't Wish Me Luck??? The two series each had a different cast, set of plots and flavour...
I think I'm going to order Wish Me Luck on Amazon and I will find out. Anyone remembers opening credits featuring a sight of the cliffs of Dover filmed from a plane? That's another detail I just remember. I am 43 and I was ten-something
I don't remember the opening credits of 'Wish Me Luck' even though I remember watching the series......Secret Army didn't open with the Dover cliffs, it featured still, 'tracking' shots along French roads and finished on a beach.
I think I started watching wish me luck on netflix and I thought it was kind of dumb. Maybe I didn't give it a good chance. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0135738/ Yeah, that was the one I starting watching.
There were good elements in each of "Wish Me Luck" 's three seasons. Unfortunately by the third season it became rather more disconnected from the historical reality and soap operatic. (I just watched the third season on dvd). They tried to give it production values, recreating a whole french village being overrun by Germans. The budget just wasn't very high.
Was it manhunt (1970) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ituyoBsobL8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqjrWOhoeqk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZolBt2eEmk or even allo allo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abr2YzV-Mms
At last! Someone who remembers this excellent series. I thought I was going mad. It's called "The Fourth Arm" http://www.ovguide.com/tv_season/the-fourth-arm-season-1-75362 I haven't been able to watch any episodes but here's the fantastic theme tune. http://www.televisiontunes.com/Fourth_Arm_-_1983_(The).html I watched the whole series in 1983 as a youngster but we missed the last episode so I never saw the ending. Apparently it had the same production team ( and main actor ) as Secret Army. If you find a decent DVD version please post a link.
I remember two series from BBC very well about World War 2 : "Wish me Luck" about SOE work in France and "Piece of Cake" about RAF fighter pilots...
Well, to be fair Paul Shelley wasn't the "main actor" in Secret Army But it does read as a sort of spin-off... Probably better than the excreble "Kessler" anyway! I must say I can't say I remember it at all for some reason... Actually - I thought it was astray by about episode two of the FIRST series! Series three at least tried to drag it back towards some historical relevance with its plotline based loosely on events on the Vercours plateau.
Yes! That's the series. That's the theme tune, definitely. I remembered it since I watched it on the Spanish TV in the 80's (Yes, I have good memory for music!). I've been searching for it, but it seems it's not available. And sorry for the belated answer, I had almost forgotten about this until I ordered Wish Me Luck on DVD last week. Thank you!
