Hello all... My name is Rob Gill and I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA and currently live and work in North Western, PA. I'm 50 years old and served in the US Army from 1982 until 1994 and still work for the Federal Government. I am the grandson of a WWII soldier who was KIA on December 18, 1944 while serving as a Rifleman with A Company, 1st Bn, 9th Inf, 2nd Infantry Division. My grandfather, PFC Harry Stemple Jr. was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his actions near Wahlerscheid, Germany. I've done quite a bit of research on my grandfather but am always looking for additional information concerning him, his unit, and the brave men he fought with. I came across this site while doing research and hope it gives me another avenue in getting to know my grandfather and his heroic actions.
Welcome Rob. Good luck with your research. This forum has excellent resources to help you on your quest.

Welcome aboard Rob, good luck with your research! I too joined the Army in 1982, but you were in for a much longer haul.
