Last trip to the Bieszczady has produced some interesting findings: Austro-Hungarian, brass fuses for shrapnel, M8, bayonet at officers in 1888, the Austro-Hungarian buckle with overlay eagle and a few other things.
Lucky you! Not only you find nice WWI relics (especially that buckle) but that area is so beautiful that just going there is excellent. The landscape of Galicia makes me think of Western Canada.
Yesterday also dug and found 2 picks austrian, a canteen for water, signed with Austria Werke in 1915, shovel, bayonet Mannlicher, the stem lock to Manlichera and a few "glasses" of Austrian shrapnel (76mm and 100mm, and the rare mountain 70mm) ..... no .. and the dragon devouring Noa deer ..... hahahahah
That canteen is in great shape. The shell cases look pretty decent too. Funny about the deer leg and that little salamander is great. The last time I saw one was over ten years ago
You are lucky to have these. I love those little "dragons". They were the symbol of French King francis I because they have the reputation of being able to resist fire
Yesterday, with colleagues from the Association did list the lost graves of soldiers from the First World War, and of course we were looking for the detectors. Practically the same Tsarskoye things we found ..... We found beautifully preserved igniter Tsar 120mm caliber shrapnel and a few other things.
Wonderful once again. Tsarist shells are quite hard to find. It is a well known fact that the Russian lacked amnunition and quantities available are much smaller.
