Salute To All! My name is Oppositioner, I am 25 years old and currently working on a video game project. I am a 6 year air force active duty veteran and looking for a home with a pool of information! So why not start here! I am building a hobby video game project that is basically a world war 2 simulator (original right?) as i said its for a hobby. Im hoping you guys can help me with a plethora of information and experiences to help me get this as accurate as possible and maybe share/swap some good stories along the way! I hope this is a good enough introduction, and that all is ok for me to bug the snot out of you guys for information on what the good ole war days were like! -Oppositioner
I'm old and most of my snot has dried out into boogers. If you can use them, ask away and I'll give it a good dig.
I was originally an Army Cav. Scout, got volunorder into tanks for a while. I was a JM & C-130 LM. Served on active duty & the guard, thought I'd stay until 60, God had other plans. Seved in last 2 wars, have spent the last year in the operating room and rehab. Been very fortunate, all my MDs were civilians & very talented. Everything more or less works & I can't see the burn scars unless I look closely, how there's hair there is a mystery to me. Everybody in my family is or has been in the military at 1 point or another, my dad 2 tours Nam, Grandfather in Europe in WWII etc. I used to jump, fly helos & fixed wing AC, but those days are gone. An old 82nd buddy gave me a call like 15-16 years ago & wanted 2 buddy passes (I was flying for the airlines) After discussing it I agreed but they'd have to let me tag along. Off we went, the hair on the back of my neck stood up for a week. We were there because of the Band of Brothers being finished up. Turns out that my friends uncle & his dads (who went with us) brother had been a member. His name was Lt. Thomas Meheen, h's in the opening scene on the jeep & also in the tent when they figure out where they're going (bright guys) Unfortunetly he was in the AC that smoked a hole on D-Day. It was the first & last time that my friends would visit his grave, so it was pretty heavy duty. I had the great fortune to meet & hang out with some really super guys, throw in endless stories & drink and it was a hell of a time. Being from Philly I instantly clicked with Wild Bill & man was he funny. A few years later I got to have dinner with him, I always forgot that he'd lost a leg & would only remember when he'd have to hop into his car. I talked to numerous folks but kept it low key. It was their time & I didn't want to appear pushy-wish I had. I had a million ?s. Anyway, we all had an enlightening & spirtual experience, along with some photos & a few odds & ends. I've always loved history, it's cyclic. In "91" we used the "Desert Foxes" plans & ran into a similar problem, the Brits cut off their supplies, we outran ours. I do miss a lot of the guys that I served with, I miss talking to my grandfather about WWII & the only good thing about the middle east is that I'm not there. If they called me tonight & said you're going back,'my bags are packed"
G'day and welcome to the forums...if you give us a better idea of the game and how it plays we could be better positioned to give ideas...great idea though!
