Yesterday i visited Lagleize military antique show and took some pics of Koningstiger 213: http://1drv.ms/1pbzLWP (tank was not for sale unfortunately)
I was there in the morning. I'm surprised you managed to get photos of the tank without any people in them! It seemed like everyone was posing for photos with the tank.
Good pics ! I agree, the King Tiger must have been the most-photographed object in Belgium at the weekend. It was so often surrounded by grinning idiots...... ...that I never got one decent photo !
Nice pic Martin. I assume you have something on your mind with that wheel ? And for next year : Make a topic who will be there so some of us can meet ech other and share some stories/have a beer.
This particular Tiger II is believed to be # 213, originally under the command of Uscha. Paul Tomke but later taken over by Ostuf. Helmut Dollinger. On December 21st, 1944 it was involved in action at Werimont against the US 3rd Division's tanks and was effectively knocked out by a hit which blew off a third of its' gun barrel, wounding Dollinger in the head. The tanks was abandoned there and subsequently recovered to La Gleize.
Martin is gathering parts for a unicycle so the choice of a 251 wheel is obvious. Martin is no wimp !!!!!!!!!. Cross country unicycling is big in Kent. I have only seen the Tiger 11 at Bovington but always remain impressed with it's sheer size. No wonder it stressed it's drive train but the sight of one must have struck fear in many an Allied tanker. Thanks for the great pictures. Gaines
