Condolences to the family and friends of Cpl. Cirillo and the other soldier that was killed in the incident USMCPrice mentioned.
Watching the explanation going on at Parliament Hill. They have a complete timeline including video. It's currently on CBC.
I'm pissed. But, must laugh because would cry otherwise. No disrespect intended. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LonKGuS9uuQ Let me know if this is not ok.

All credit to Kevin Vickers, the Sergeant-at-Arms who ran towards gunfire and shot the attacker dead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKZbdAQHLTc More on Mr. Vickers here Parliamentary hero Kevin Vickers says he's ‘touched’ by attention
That video is very Canadian, and be extension very Commonwealth. As a Canadian myself attending College in the US, I remember a friend making fun of the outfits and ceremony surrounding Canadian Parliament. He specifically made light of the huge Ceremonial Mace carried into the House and the gown worm by the Sergeant at Arms. The truth is that what seems to be simply ceremonial positions have deep history and those who occupy such posts are proudly & firmly committed to their duties. One might joke about the guy wearing decorated robes carrying the large baton, but if you threaten those he is sworn to protect, that man in the funny hat will take out a gun and grimly shoot you dead. I appreciate CNN's newscast that just let the event occur without commentary or background music. It was a very powerful thing to watch, at least for this Canadian.
It's nice to see our European royalist traditions have crossed the Ocean. They are a proud heritage of history and ought to be preserved at all means.
A huge thank you to Mr. Vickers. He was the right man in the right place and probably saved many lives. His SWAT training stood him in good stead. Two to the body, one to the head. Game over for one more oxygen thief. My condolences to the family of Corp. Cirillo.
Damn, Rex Murphy is a pretty inspiring fellow. Very good monologue which hit the nail squarely on the head. I salute the Sgt. and the Cpl. two of Canada's finest!
People stopped to pay their respects in Hamilton today as the motorcade passed by. Here's a few scenes of crowds gathering before the motorcade arrival, taken on my drive home.
