My wife's grandfather Rex Whitehead was in H Company, 394th, 99th Division. Years ago I was introduced to friends he had made in Belgium long after the war, two young men affectionately referred to as "the Diggers". What these men have accomplished is nothing short of a miracle.

Jean-Phillipe took my wife and I on a tour though the forest below Elsenborn Ridge pointing out foxholes, communication trenches, etc. It was amazing to see unexploded mortar shells, bullets, shrapnel strewn about everywhere in the woods. Quite dangerous I assure you. Check out the story "California Road" as the 9th photo (a pen) was a very emotional discovery for my wife's family.

I can't get either of the links to work. First one goes to a "domain" site and the second one sits there trying to load?

Became familiar with the MIA Project and "The Diggers" from Bill Warnock's book: "The Dead of Winter", which tells of their efforts. A most interesting read I enjoyed very much and would recommend.
