I agree. Clearly if there is a legitimate claim that this documents are authentic, more studies need to be done.
The Historian surely will back up his link/claim..... Reading the examples m kenny provided I tend to think this newspaper is obsessed with any Nazi story it can get for whatever reason (also they have no idea of tank warfare and use wrong pics)... BTW: Was this the same paper that wrote "the Panzers are coming" or something like that in a England-Ger football match ? We had a laugh even here about that iirc.
The same thought occurred to me. Peenemunde is close to the Polish border and Szczecin (for example) is a mere 63 miles away, though surely some rural village (and there are many) would serve the purpose better. The Nazis were evil, but not stupid. I suspect somebody is planning on releasing a book. They'll pocket a tidy sum and this BS will become part of the general nonsense floating around as "history." Did you know the Germans bombed their own cities to test their rockets?
Well your 1st sentence which I noted does not belong to the article, sounded a bit like. I was wrong it seems. So you also don´t like bleeding hearts. No romantic guy
The Historian is just that - an amateur historian. He posts many interesting links without necessarily taking a side, just to promote discussion. He's a valuable and prolific member of this community.
If it wasn´t for his 1st sentence I would totally agree - but it seems this was a backlash from the closed thread (terror bombing). I am nitpicking I know, sorry.
As has been stated above, Gordon made no claim about the article's veracity and I don't think anyone else here on the forum took his act of posting it here as indicating that he supported it, except you, Bundesluftwaffe. As has been mentioned, it was put out to spark discussion. We all do this from time to time and Gordon quite regularly.
Quite agree. Interesting topic and watch checking into, although late in the war testing seems quite weird but then again who knows where the missiles where directed in the first place etc etc.
