Hello everyone, I was wondering, were there any secret bunkers that allied forces had in or near enemy territory? If not, can anybody give me examples of some bunkers that allied forces had closer to home, with the responsibility of handling communications/sending orders? I would really like it if there were pictures of the interior, that would be incredible. Thank you in advance!
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but here are a couple of links to the Columbia River forts. I believe Fort Columbia became a major emergency coms center at some point after WWII. https://www.google.com/search?q=fort+columbia&safe=active&biw=1080&bih=1819&noj=1&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=6v9QVb2JPJLBgwTSvIGQCA&ved=0CEAQsAQ https://www.google.com/search?q=fort+stevens&safe=active&biw=1080&bih=1819&noj=1&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=-v9QVZ7iA4mogwTS3oHIDw&ved=0CFYQsAQ There are some internal shots in the above. Fort Stevens was the only US military instalation in the then 48 states that came under attack from axes forces. (Discounting the balloon bombs which affected at least one US quasi military instalation.).
Derelict Places might have some. http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/showthread.php?t=23176 The Maginot Line should have some decent photos out there.
