My name is Jonathan Horne, I'm 63 and I live in the Bay Area in California. I developed an interest in wwii history about forty years ago, actually even before that as a kid I was making models of naval aircraft. I needed to find out what my dad did during the war, he didn't talk much about it but would answer questions. I had to learn what questions to ask. My dad is still living at age 98, he survived two combat tours as a pilot during World War Two and as the navigator of the USS Bataan during Korea. This interest has expanded to all parts of naval aviation even if he didn't have direct involvement. I collect naval aviation cadet yearbooks. My collection is near complete as I have all editions from 1936 through 1944 with the exception of 1940. Does anyone know where there is a list of aviators from Jacksonville? The quest continues to find questions to ask my still lucid father before it's too late. Jonathan Horne Quayhog53(at)gmail
Welcome to the Forum, Jonathan. The post on your father's service in the PTO was interesting. Please offer him our thanks for his service.
Welcome to the joint, Jonathan, good to have someone with your strong interest here. I look forward to your contributions. "Pilot" or "Naval Aviator"?
Try contacting someone here: http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/ They can probably point you in the right direction.
