Greetings! My passion for WW2 brought me here. I'm an artist and I also own a board game publishing company with our first game (a WW2 game) due to be available in late September '16. I also enjoy creating WW1 and WW2 aviation art, as well as some modern jets/drones. WW2 as a subject of study is vast, I'm here to learn from others and contribute in any way I can. I'll be poking around looking for good stories in the forum to possibly re-create as artwork and look forward to interacting with other members. I'd like to share some of my images with the group, the Lee Enfield rifle and the Imperial Japanese Raiden Jack.. They were drawn using a vector program called Drawplus. John
Greetings!.. When I first left my country/England; It was to Pennsylvania. I flew to Philadelphia from London in 2001 when I was 14 in November, resided in Willow Grove, PA in Montgomery County; Day tripped it to Hershey, PA, Center City (Philadelphia) Scranton, PA (as well as places out of PA in the US, in neighbouring DE and NJ and NYC); went back in 2004, resided in the same place in PA. Both times I spent my weekends in NJ at a place, but that's not Pennsylvania Welcome to WW2F
Thanks all! Appreciate the welcome. Ben, I was born in PA, lived in Bucks County most of my life. I lived in Warrington, just a few minutes from the Willow Grove air base from 2000-2013. I'm currently in Montogomery County near Souderton. Although I've ever been to England, but it's on my bucket list along with Alsaka, Normandy, and Italy.
Hi DigiArt. A lot of talent there. I live in Hatboro, a stone's throw from Warrington. My daughter lives in Souderton. Small world.
John Welcome aboard ! Just for the fun of it, have a look at this little tale I once told on the BBC People's War site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peopleswar/stories/75/a2515475.shtml and then tell me that you've found relatives of John Merry for me Ron
Thanks again, good group of folks here. And I'm not surprised there are members that know this area of PA. as the region has grown quite a bit over the years. If you haven't been to the WW2 airshow at the Reading airport, I'd say you've been missing out on some great WW2 re-enactments, entertainment, and of course, the warbirds flying over head. They hold it every year on the weekend closest to June 6th. Ron, I read some of your posts. Thanks for sharing your stories. I do have a question, at one point you mention they brought a balloon out to your ship, inflated. What was it for?
John Ron, I read some of your posts. Thanks for sharing your stories. I do have a question, at one point you mention they brought a balloon out to your ship, inflated. What was it for? Anti-Aircraft whilst in harbour Ron
That Enfield looks like it would shoot ! Glad you found this forum and was going to suggest you check out the art and game categories but see you already have. Gaines
Ha! Thanks GT! Appreciate the comment, I also have the M-1 Garand and Gewher 43 Sniper drawn. I'll have to reformat them to fit within the upload parameters on this site, but I'll upload them soon. Ron, I thought as much, a barrage balloon made sense but now I need to know where they tethered it.
