Hello everyone! I'm researching my American grandfather and I've submitted my father's DNA to ancestry and have been linked to a 1st cousin. My father was born in the UK and his father was an American GI.

I've requested this man's service records but I can't make out the number of his battalion. How would I go posting a picture of this record to see if anyone can decipher the record so can figure out where this guy went during WW2.

    Many thanks

    Welcome.

There is a FAQ and a number of threads that address how to post it. I haven't done it so can't be of much help. I do believe it's as easy as providing a URL if it's hosted somewhere on the web that others can see.

At the bottom right of the page, click on "More Reply Options"

In that window, click on "Choose Files"

Navigate to the the photos you want to add to the post and select them

Once you have selected the pics, you can click on "add to post" and it will place them where you left your cursor in the window.

    Then select "Add Reply"

There is a size limit, so make sure your photo is not huge. That is file size, not dimensions.

You can also post a photo using an image hosting website like Photobucket. Just upload your photo and they will provide a link which you can copy. Then to paste it into your post, just click on the Image tool (below & left of the Smiley tool), and paste the link. The advantage to this method, is that you don't have to worry about the size of the file.
