Eleanor had her own "little house" at Hyde Park as well, with her friends frequently staying there. Eleanor had reason to leave Franklin's bed, he had cheated on her more than once.
Yup. At this point, and possibly immediately from the beginning, it was a marriage of convenience. They both had their agendas and each needed the other to support those aims.
I don't agree with the marriage of convenience, Franklin really did woo Eleanor when he was courting her. Ken Burns' series, "The Roosevelts" goes into detail on that, as does Joseph P. Lash in Eleanor and Franklin: The Story of Their Relationship based on Eleanor Roosevelt's Private Papers. Lash was an aide to Eleanor for many years. For more on the FDR/WSC relationship see Lash's Roosevelt and Churchill, 1939-1941 or Roosevelt and Churchill: Their Secret Wartime Correspondence, edited by Francis L. Loewenheim, Harold D. Langley, and Manfred Jonas.
Michelle is the black Eleanor...they both ugly. Must have been other reasons, because powerful men don't marry the homely. Look at the current god emperors' wife.
i always had a thing for (skinny) Oprah...weird. O was way better looking than M/fang. Would bet barry enjoyed those manly arms pinning him down on a russian mattress.
#28 Just going to admit i didn't catch your drift above. ..can you dumb it down a bit. Going to guess it was referring to DT's wife, but i still can't connect the dots. She is an immigrant...doh, i dont get it. My gf is an immigrant who just received her papers...help me out here
Hmmm...ive heard this before...perhaps yes, perhaps no. I was born here...so was my father and grand father and great grandfather etc etc...goes back to 1818...so am I an immigrant? In once sense no...in another we are ALL immigrants, including the Australian Aborigines who've been here for at least 40 000 years...ALL except the Africans still living in central Africa...so when or how long do you have to stay to be considered indigenous? Here in the Territory, we don't let anyone call themselves a territorian unless they have been here at least 20 years for example...is there anything official on this or is it up to the locals to decide?
Thanks for that OP. I admit, my knowledge of FDR and Eleanor as a couple is rather meager. Always assumed, based on the war years and his affairs, it was strained and irreparable.
That's why I put "to one extent or another". Most people here in the states are from somewhere else originally. To the Indians (feather, not dot) here, everyone else here are immigrants. That's the point I was making. But I do agree with your position myself.
You could extend that logic to say anybody who isn't living in Oldavi Gorge is an "immigrant". However, for Melania it means she wasn't born here.
Yes, I know that. She is an immigrant true, but she's also a naturalized citizen. Just making conversation, that's all. There's some degree of truth in both arguments.
I have a t-shirt that says "Homeland Security: Fighting Terrorists since 1492." The picture is of four Apache chiefs.
Married a 50% Cree, German woman. ..oh- Canada. Would have made an excellent breed for attack dogs, if only i'd known.
Why do i limp Churchill's bust returned to the Oval Office- http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/trump-oval-office-makeover-233954
