How effective were these troups? Apart from clearing out bunkers, I'd have thought someone walking around with all that fuel strapped to their backs was just a sitting duck for snipers / pot shots :fag:
Was not this weapon used more expansively during World War II compared to II? However I would hate to be the one in charge of the thrower. As stated, you become a target and if it gets hit, you will burst into flames and that is no way to die.
One of the most used Flamethrower was the Panzerkampfwagon III. Built in 1943 they were designed to eliminate bunkers at relatively close range.
Don't think a sniper would take this flamethrower on.. :wtf: They were also used by the Americans in the Pacific to get the Japs out of the caves, must have been an horrible situation knowing that the flamethrower was going to be used against you and your principal was not to surrender... i:
I was thinking more of the backpack flamethrowers like this one... I would hate to have been carrying that with bullets and shrapnel flying around everywhere. Great for getting a campfire going though
