Hey i am Andrew nice too meet you all, i currently work in the Australian Military and i have been posted in Iraq and many diffrent places, it if good to meet you all, got any questions go ahead and ask me.

Welcome to the boards... and glad to hear you made it back home safely from duty in Iraq.
You made a reference in another post to being shot/knocked-down while serving there. I hope your body-armor stopped that one!

what kind of single shot weapon was it silverous, that was shot into your chest? ..that musta smarted abit ... and baseball bats ?
,i didnt even know they played baseball in iraq

 

Nice too meet you Tim and yes it did save me to a sort, but it hurt like hell.

Majorwoody i believe it was a Ruger rifle of os sort not sure what series but it was pretty powerful, must of been a large bullet. And no they don't play baseball but they use them to beat on people, anymore questions?

What is your MOS?
'Never heard of Iraqis shooting Ruger M77 center-fire bolt-action rifles. I take it your boys recovered this weapon?

On the other questions, why so many but okay i knw why they were using a Ruger, it's because the American's supply most of Iraq with their weapons, and like i said it was on one occasion.

As for where we deployed, well he moved around alot and deployed in multiple locations, too settle riots ect.ect, and MOS Sorry i don't know that term, full name and i can answer it

MOS--Military Occupational Specialty

I'm a lifelong civilian working in Info Tech for a major midwestern university. 'Just a big fan of military history, armor, aircraft... and the like.

Ah my MOS is MOS 11B Infantry Rifleman, i converted the Aussie MOS into American for you .

Now deploying areas, let me remember them for you.

First we deployed in the Haji Jabir area, which is a main area of riots and racial bashing's, ect ect. And then basically we moved into the city area, where it was the worst.

siverous. As someone who recieves regular 'sit-reps' from an active unit in Iraq, what city are you refering to and when were you there? Always interested in what our old 'Digger' mates are up to!

Eight days ago I asked the Iraq veteran 'siverous' questions about his service there, he has declined to answer, I leave you to make your own conclusion.
He is a liar and a fake, a disgrace to his fellow countrymen who have served in Iraq and a further insult to the six British service personel, including two female, who have lost their lives this week
I had my suspicions from his first post on this subject that I passed on to moderators.

Lack of reply is not the same as conceding your point. It is unfair to jump to overhasty conclusions because of the absence of the member in question.

I live about 15 minutes from the USS Alabama.

 

Thank you JCalhoun, always regret not taking that tour of the mansions in Mobile, girls were dressed up in nice dresses out in front of them. Just didn't have the time. Beautiful city, I was there in the late 80's or early 90's, my ex-brother in law is from Selma, I think.

 

If you ever get back this way, look me up. It can take a few days to see everything.
