We need to keep them friendly, otherwise they won't listen. But some, say, mild pressure might be in place.
aye but we need to grab their attention so we need to send as many letters as possible why not put a template of a letter and their adress so people can print them out and send them :bang: :bang:
I think Time Commanders is a great program. It or something like it has been long overdue. If I am the programs producer, I upgrade the computers A.I and invite on teams of wargamers. Also I increase the time-frame of the chosen battles to go right up to WWII, as it is they all seem to be within 500 years either side of the birht of Christ.
Yay! I finally have a copy of Medieval Total War now, meaning I can play at least something like Time Commanders myself, even though they only used Roman Total War for a platform... It's a start! However, it only confirms the tactical advantages and limitations of my 'commander's mind' as I knew them already.
Caught an eposode of something very similar on the Discovery channel a few days ago. They appeared to be using the same software but were using it to compare Alexander the Great to Hannilable, and instead of teams had two ex military bod's. One Brit one Yank. The Brit won, Yay!However over all it was a less interesting program. Once I have a working home computer again I plan to buy myself Medieval Total war. Although I has to be said I'm more used to tabletop wargaming using the unforgiving DBM rule set.
For those of you that can receive it, I see that UKtv History is currently showing re-runs of old "Time-Commanders" episodes. About one a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. Tonights episode is at 19:00 G.M.T (or what ever GMT is now called)
STOP PRES!! Tonight BBC2 7:15 pm. New Series of Time commanders. An encounter in the Teutoberg forest.
I watched it and I must say the programme isn't what it used to be. The new anchorman is a lot worse than Eddie Mair, and the new setup of the program allows for so few errors on the side of the team that they can barely lose. And so they won; surprise, surprise! It seemed to me like the AI was doing a terrible job, too. They were sending their men in piecemeal to be grinded by the Roman legions, being little more than a nuisance to the formations.
I much prefer the new format. The presenter is o.k. I agree that the A.I has been dumbed down. Especially given the tactics they used in real life to destroy the legions.
Well, they were clearly set up. There was no creativity to it, and I think it is no replacement for the former "your army - their army" sequence in the programme. This new format should give the team the opportunity to ask the wrong questions, which they normally would, and therefore sadly they told them what to ask. It was obvious.
Presenter He needs something to do in between being the butt of Jeremy Clarkson's comments on Top Gear. That bloody siren is annoying though. Now if that 'General' Vicar had been around in Normandy June 1944????
Yes, the siren is awful. Good Ole blood & guts vicar. Probably the best " General" I've seen. Re communication: Surely if you are a General, you appoint yourself a Captain & the other General has the other Captain. That way there are only two conversations going on, instead of six.
If only they would understand... Indeed this general was superb in imposing his will on the team, so that there was little miscommunication. In spite of that awful, awful siren.
Another good General this week, the 'bossy' woman! Perhaps her and the vicar could make an invincible team! Yay to the programme, but BOO HISS BOO to the evil siren. (BTW Roel, do you have a British TV licence?)
