H G, not Orson. Go have a look at Guttenberg Project, they've got zillions of copy-right expired books for download (nothing on technical aspects of modern warfare) but most of HG's stuff is there. Good read

did you know that the early tanks came in different sexes? male and female. the question is how did you tell the boys from the girls? bonus points to the first correct answer. BTW this is the kind of stuff i love.

Female tanks tanks had only machine guns, as opposed to the 6pr (one in each sponson) of the males. Presumably because they were better at killing infantry and therefore "deadlier than the male"
I know I'm right about the armament, but guessing about the reason.

The reason was probably that male and female tanks were always supposed to work in pairs, the Female dealing with infantry and the Male with MG nests and other bigger targets.

As simple as that? I think my reason is better. Most women I've met turn out to be deadly:lol:

so, female = less effective & dependant on the male for survival, then?
