    First Kill.

I'd say that has to be Germany Vs. Poland, assuming that we're talking WWII, although a lot depends on where you are since here in Britain WWII started two days later than if you're in Poland...

It was Poland, I can't find the pilot, but he downed a Ju-87, creating the first air-to-air kill of ww2.

The next random ww2 question is....

How many marines were killed/wounded in the initial landings on Guadalcanal?

I assume that these bombers were operating without fighter cover? Alone they are easily killed but with Bf-109s circling overhead this will get quite messy.

As to the second question, I have no idea but it'll have been thousands anyway.

I'll just give the answer to number 2. It wasn't in the thousands. When the marines first lanmded only one wound was suffered. Some guy wounded himself with his bayonet, when trying to open a coconut. (this only includes the landings)

That must have been where the Japanese waited until there were thousands of Marines on the beach before hitting them with everything they had.

I believe that I read that the Japanese shot down the first plane. For some people WW2 started in China.

Hi Skip! Welcome to the forum.

Indeed there is still some debate as to when WW2 started, and no exact day can be pinpointed as the starting date of world war. We have had a discussion on it, it's quite dead now. Some new blood perhaps?

I can't seem to find it... Sorry.

Didn't he cut his hand with a machete when he opened the coconut? Not that it really matters anyway...

The starting date for WWII is different for every country I would think, as countries were declaring war left and right during the whole conflict. China's WWII would have started in 1931 while the US's WWII would have started in 1941, and so on.

Some of them had four guns as well, two in the wings in addition to the two mounted in the fuselage. The one in the picture doesn´t seem to have that though.
