I'm planning to take my father back to Normandy in May, the first time since he landed in 1944 with the Middlesex Regiment as part of British 51st Highland Division. He was a wireless operator on a Bren Gun Carrier. He served through to Bremen, so the Sappers Tale is v interesting.

He particularly wants to visit the areas where his unit was deployed, namely the Orne Bridgehead and around St Honourine.

Can anyone recommend any particular locations places to visit, sites or books worth buying?

    Many thanks

A pretty good one is Battle Zone Normandy, Orne Bridgehead by Lloyd Clark. I think you'll find everything you're looking for then pillbox.
