    germans used all kind of captured equipment from every country.
    trucks, tanks, armoured cars, half tracks, so you name it, they used them!!!

    Looks like the L11 seen on the KV1 and KV1A.

    Yeah but it also looks as if the barrel has been plugged with something.

    yep,german used soviet armor,here is PIC of destroyed german T-34.

    That top one looks knocked out, not pressed into Italian service. Its left track is missing.

    Simon: fair point, however I don't know of any artillery spotter or ARV versions of the KV-1, so that would be very strange.

    Looks like barrel cover to me. Keeps dirt,water and all other unwanted stuff outside of cleaned barrel :D

    Sure, I can imagine. However when I saw this picture I thought (from what it shows) that they knocked it out and now pose with their prize, rather than that they posed to have their picture taken and then proceeded to patch up the vehicle for their own purposes. A picture does not always tell a whole story...

    I think it is a Ausf G late model, just check the intermediate style driving sprocket and the early returner wheel. :D
