Take the bicycle for once! believe me, it's fun! (and i can tell, cycling is one of my favourite sports )
Get a bicycle! It's not nearly as expensive as a car but moves you three to four times as fast as walking! Yes, GP, the bicycle is a very popular mode of transportation in the Netherlands, especially in the cities where cars can't come. Sometimes it's even faster than a car on short distances.
I'm not too keen on bikes, especially after an unfortunate argument with a wall. Is this off topic a bit?
Not any more it isn't! Now it IS the topic. Ouch, an argument with a wall... that converts people. But isn't there a bus or something going to the next town?
Well, yeah, but it is not a route that is terribly convenient for me to get on, and I haven't really got the time for all that mucking about. Edit: Ok, I'll admit, I'm a bit lazy also! Sometime I should get my girlfriend to drive me there...
I bicycle just about everyday. Today I've bicycled about 15km (shopping etc). I also bicycle to university at winter whatever the weather. I can tell that bicycling at -30 celsius isn't that much fun. Its cold and it hard'n' heavy. Bicycle isnt rolling like it used to do at +15 celsius During winter I bicycle to downtown only if its quite good weather, if it isn't, I take a bus.
hear hear, I could not possibly agree with you more. 8) I had ten good years in touring and racing on bicycles , eventually I won a gold medal in the time trial becoming Illinois state champion for veteran men in the time trial that was 1980. I still ride but not like I used to.
I' got my new mountain-bike yesterday. http://www.scottusa.com/product.php?UID=4812 Nothing is like a 3+ hours long bicykle trip up in the mountains. And if it's beautiful wheather it is perfect
My grandmother is 77 and also bicycles every day(as she had never a driving licence). I think she bicycles more in a week than I do in a year....
I live about 15 kilometers from my former school. I tried cycling it once. The way there was fine, no problem. The way back was hell... You see, Holland is flat, and over flat fields winds get strong very easily, and I was facing about a 6 over half of the trip. I never did that again! Lazy as I am, I took the bus to school for the full six years.
Gee, never knew a simple post about cycling would cause so much response! Nice! Well, what can I say? I do practically everything by bike, things such as going to school and shopping, visiting friends, etcetera. Going to school is no tough call though, I cover the louzy distance in 5 minutes. Like I said before, I am a cycler for sport (well, in summer that is) and I aim for a good 3600km total this summer. I am now nearly halfway 8) I was very suprised when I saw that many of you do cycle or used to do so! Very nice! Oh yeah, here's a picture of my nice little thing: cheers!
I used to cycle to school which was about 10 miles/16 km But then there wasn't so many cars on the roads then. I do, however, like the Dutch cycle paths and use them now myself.
yeah I believe these cycle paths are pretty rare, aren't they? For us, it's very common, we're even amazed if there is none. btw where do you live, if you say that you use them yourself now?
Cycling to school in Singapore is a very, very rare sight. Personally I prefer the bus. Cycling is solely for recreation. Hell, I think I've seen a grand total of 1 student cyclist on his/her way to school in my entire life.
Wow! So those schools haven't got any place to stall your bike either, right? Each day our school territory is covered by hundreds of bikes.
