Ok, which type did Steve McQueen ride in the movie The Great Escape? Perhaps the question should be, 'which one was it supposed to represent, form the Germans?'

 

I think that the motor bike used by Steve McQueen in The Great Escape was a Triumph.

I would think the Triumph that Steve McQueen rode was 'standing in' for a BMW R75.

three more Mo-Bike pics. A not very good pic of Enfield Bullet Military model as being now built in India.
Road side repaires on a batch of rebuilt ww2 british bikes on Yorkshire moors.
A very nice RAF Indian.
Not especially in the above given order!

 

I like this one a Aermoto Volugrafo 125cc for the Italians paratroopers.
Here in British hands at Naples.

 

That looks like something a circus monkey would ride!

 

It looks similar to the motorbike the British developed for their paratroopers - designed to fit into a supply cannister, it looked a bit like a modern 'motor scooter'.

 

Anyone seen riding one of those would be taken as a circus entertainer, and sent on their merry way.
