    Well I'm sorry to break this conversation but why do people always refer to this vehicle as the Puma? not only just he or me, but also books, modelcompanies, etcetera. I would take that into account when saying that 'it was never offcially called the puma'.

    They all rely on the same poor research, that's why.

    Model kit manufacturers have very little regard for authenticity of names, so these should not be used for enything other that suggestive identification.

    Well, "Sherman" was originally a British Amry nickname later adopted by American troops for their M4. This tank was never oficially called the Sherman either.

    It's just so much easier to refer to unofficial names than to have to stick to the way these vehicles appear in official papers (which many of us haven't ever seen).

    I believe that I have read that somewhere, actually, but I had forgotten all about it. Thanks for reminding me!

    Using the unofficial name will only lead to confusion, though. For example, if you refer to e.g. a 'Puma', a 'Königstiger' or a 'Bison', I have as good a chance of understanding it as if I refer to the Emchas.
