Actually I beleive there was a Canadian officer who denied a promotion because he would ahve to leave Afghanistan, he unded up getting hit in thee head with an axe. I heard they are gonna give him the promotion anyways.
No he was ambushed, because the Canadian troops put their helmets, and guns away when they meet with the village leaders. http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2006/03/04/canada-afghanistan060304.html On the article they dont mention the promotion but on their radio broadcast they mentioned it.
Is it any chance that we choose how ranks will look? This is not ranks in my army and i want to put mine
This has been asked by members of pretty much every nation except the US, and I doubt it will happen. We'd have to add ranking systems from each country that is represented among our members if we did - not worth the hassle.
Yup, and then you'd have all the idiots like me asking for special ranking to reflect their delusions and fantasies. If we ever do get one I'd like one that reflects my position as "Emperor of the World and owner of a brand new toothbrush".
Sergeant Major wasn't implemented in the US rank system until after the war. The current rank system is the 1942 version.
