Can anyone tell me the reason why many new members of this Forum disappear from our screens without a trace? Out of the 244 registered members how many are actually still with us? The latest one to blaze across our sky like a comet (not the tank!) for three days, post 21 intelligent letters, last one Jan.2nd, then disappeared into a black hole was Kilgore. Where is he? Is it something someone's said? Over two weeks now, say something if it's only Goodbye!
Nonetheless, merlin has a point. I think memebers should at least attempt to say farewell if they intend to leave.
This kind of thing happens on a forum like this. Sometimes people decide they want to spend less time on the internet (like Lyndon), others feel they have nothing very useful to add (like Panzerman), others simply feel the new experience has worn out or the pace isn't fast enough, or too fast, or not in the right topics for them to remain interested. Still others are overwhelmed by activities (like Dave) but may return later on, when their busy life has calmed down a bit. With all the real things going on out there, I'm happy that people still find the time to come here regularly!
That, too, is something that is very normal for an online forum. People register t post one remark, or one website, or one question, and then they leave again. It's not like thy bother you, is it? Actually Skua and I remove users that make no posts, after six months.
That particular member doesn´t exist in the database anymore. I have no idea why he´s still appearing on the memberlist. We only remove those who has made no posts at all btw, and only after at least six months.
post subject very subtle David! Many years ago a friend of mine worked for the Falkland Island Surveys, he was there 18 months, when he came back his fiance broke it off.
Beat me to it, I was going to say "Damn, thought this was a thread about John Bobbit" (Probably have to be in your mid-twenties-ish or over to get that one!)
