Ok, here are some pictures from Saturday, when I took my girlfriend (now fiancee...) out to drive tanks as a birthday present (thanks to the folks at http://www.fantastic-days.com/ )

I apologise in advance, my digital camera is not the best in the world, plus us spectators were at a fair distance from the tanks, so picture quality is not always 100%

There were 3 vehicles available, the BV202, the FV432 and the Chieftain.

    First up was the BV202:

    Than came the FV432:

And finally the Chieftain! Man, the bass rumble of that engine is beautiful...
A selection of pictures of the Chieftain negotiating the mud wallow...

    An over-revved Chieftain:

    And a properly-driven Chieftain:

Just to be nice, they let us get a bit closer at the end:

And both of us & the Chieftain:

This place also has some fascinating 'spares' lying around...

    Well, that's it.
    Hope you like the pictures!

To our American members - I'm sure they have similar events over there - try typing 'tank driving' into Google.

    Nice pictures, Ricky. :)

I see the knees on your trousers are still clean, so I guess the pic was taken before you proposed to her. ;)

Lovely pics Ricky! :D It's great that your fiance shares your interest (my ex-wife couldn't tell the difference between a Sherman and a sherbert!). BTW is that a rusty Ferret or an earlier Daimler in the scrap-heap photo?

To say she shares my interest is a bit strong... she now knows what a Chieftain looks like, but her interest only goes as far as driving them! :D

I think that they are Ferret hulls - they seem a little less angular than Diamlers, plus the company runs several Ferrets when there is less mud about, so I assumed that they are canibalised carcasses.

I haven't heard of the Ferret before, but those are not Daimlers. The rear part is very different.

    Nice pictures!

There is a some kind of armored car in Finnish tank museum but can't remember if it is a Ferret or a Daimler. I saw one driving last summer. It was white and they said that it had been in Suez. It has 6-cylinder engine and the gearbox made a moaning sound. :)

Thanks for the pic Ricky, the top one is definitely a Ferret. Look at how the position of the view slits differ from those on the Daimler.
