Hello Admiral-d, welcome to the forum. I'm not sure which movie it is you're referring to here. Do you perhaps mean the 1977 Hollywood movie called "A Bridge Too Far"?

If so, the German tank used in that movie is not an actual German tank. It consists of a number of metal plates welded to a different tank, and I'm not sure which tank that is. Has anyone else been able to figure that out?

Can't remember it clearly but I do believe it is a mocked up tank on a post war chassis. Don't know what chassis it is.

    Hello.
To represent the German tanks, they are tank ' Leopard " of the Dutch army, transformed and painted in grey which were used.(if this film is" A bridge too far".)
One of rare German vehicle of this film is a Krauss-Maffei half-track.
    Patrice.

They were clearly Leopard tanks - look at the exhausts at the rear of the hull side!

    bridge too far

the afv in question was the leopard 1. this tank was newly issused to german armoured regts back in 1977. even though its not a pzlll its still 50 tons of rhienmetal charging the british. close enough to the real events. some of the other vehicles belonging to the recce regt. look even worse[/list]

I've got the film on dvd and the german tank is a leopard 1 with the distinctive wedge shaped mantlet. The close up British Shermans are originals but for the background they used mock-ups placed on top of vw beetles! The Dutch resistance boy is definitely Harry Potter (or Harry Van Potter) - watch the film, he's a dead ringer.
